Tawau Borneo

On our way from Tarakan  (Indonesia) to Tawau (Malaysia) we passed by a ship that they were loading with coal, Borneo has plenty resources like oil, wood, coal, because the sea is very shallow on the coast, they load boats offshore as far as 10 15 miles, so there is a lot of traffic from tugs pulling barges with coal or wood.

Ship get loaded from both sides.

The Tawau yacht club jetty, very impressive, access from land very easy, when you come from the seaside, as we do with our dinghy, then you have to be a monkey to climb on the jetty.

The bay with a rain shower, big ships can anchor here and the cargo, wood or coal is loaded.

This big monitor lizards were living under the yacht club jetty.

Sometimes I even saw them around the boat, very shy, but I had to take all my courage together, to go in the water and clean the propeller after we left and I noticed that we were making no speed.

At the fish market, children posing with Glenda.

This is all kinds of different dried fish.

More dried fish.

Swimming pool from the yacht club.

After paying our temporary membership fee, we were allowed to use the swimming pool.

Our favourite restaurant, it was open on two sides, so mostly a nice breeze came through.

Less then 3 euro for 36 eggs.

One kilo onions about one euro.

Here in Tawau the air was much cleaner, then in Tarakan, only sometimes we had some haze from the fires in Indonesia.

Boats of Tarakan

Boats of Tarakan is a post were you can see the traffic that past our boat, when we were on anchor, when it got to much, we anchored half a mile more in the sea to have some quiet moments.
